Parts of the furnace

Parts of the furnace: return, air filter and blower motor. Return duct is a big vent, which is usually located in a hall. Its purpose is to suck in the cooled air from the house and deliver is back to the furnace to heat. While furnace is pulling air in through the return duct, the air first has to go through the filter. Air brings with it lots of dust particles, debris, pet hair. Filter catches all the dust before it goes to the motor, it protects the motor from being dusted, as well as improves the air in the house. After that air goes to a motor blower, which has a fan and distributes air evenly in the furnace. It forces air to go to the heat exchange, where the air warms up again and then to the supply plenum, that will force air to the air duct system in your house.
