What is furnace?

The word furnace came from Greek “Fornax”, meaning “oven”. So furnace is a structure that is fired by gas, oil, wood, warms up water or air, that circulates through the building in a heating system. Furnaces in a houses sometimes are called units and they can be different types, usually gas, oil, electric, or dual. Motor homes use their special air duct system. With all this variety of furnaces, they all use the same principle how they warm up air and transfers it to the house. The major components of the furnace are: return duct, air filter, blower motor, thermostats, hot surface ignitor, burners, heat exchanger, flue and supply plenum.
